ochs und junior date Sterling Silver 925 42 For those familiar with Watch Vault, you’re probably aware of our adoration for ochs und junior. If you're not familiar with ochs und junior, they operate on an ethos of radical simplicity, creating amazing complications with as few moving parts as possible. Backed by the amazing brain that is Ludwig Oechslin, they're simply some of the coolest watches in the world. They're also easy to service, comfortable, and extremely limited in production. Each watch can be fully customised and custom built, and can also be modified post-sale at any point in the future which makes them endlessly versatile and interesting. As it's name suggests, the 'Date' is their simplest watch showing just the hours, minutes, seconds and date. This particular example sports the wonderful ochs und junior (ouj) blue dial, orange date marker, and white luminous hands, housed in a 42mm sterling silver case. Of all the ochs we've had, we've never had a sterling silver case, and it is quite special in person. Featuring an all polished surface, it has a considerable heft as you'd expect of precious metal, and a sheen not seen on steel or titanium. Powering it is a modified ETA 2824 meaning easy servicing and reliability, something we favour in our independent pieces, and is mounted to a lovesly calfskin OuJ strap in blue with red stitching with matching sterling silver buckle. This particular one-owner example was first purchased in 2015, and presents in TZ 'Good' condition. It presents very well on the wrist, with scratches and mild scuffs as expected. There's some small nicks/dings on the top edge of the case/bezel, which is the reason for the 'Good' rather than 'Excellent' grading on the TZ scale. Shows some spots of tarnish, which could be cleaned off if desired. Sapphire crystal shows scratching, which is numerous, but not deep. See images for full details. Strap is in fabulous condition, and the buckle shows some marks and tarnish. Also includes the original black strap which is heavily worn. Has not been serviced before, but currently keeping COSC time at 300+ degrees of amplitude measured dial-up on a timegrapher. For those familiar with ochs und junior, you'll know that then aren't accompanied with large boxes or cases in the pursuit of simplification, and ship attached to cardboard or in a travel case. This example includes the ochs leather case, as well as the original invoice showing the spec, cost, and date.
