Rolex Explorer II 16570 Black Dial Z Serial A traditionally overlooked reference, the 16570 Explorer has found it’s way out from under the rock it was hiding for all these years and is finally being appreciated by collectors worldwide, and for good reason. The Polar spec gets most of the love these days, but when you see a crisp black dial variant it becomes clear that these are just as special in their own way, with the perfect blend of vintage charm and modern usability escpecially in these later solid endlink variants. This particular example is a Z-Serial dating from circa-2006, and presents in excellent vintage condition. The case shows only light hairlines and swirlies, with no dings or dents. Lugs are even, with clear markings between them. Bezel shows some small marks and some very small dings/scuffs around it's outer edge, but retains an excellent finish with a crisp bevel. Please see images for full condition details. Dial is in excellent condition, with no flaws we can see. Hands are in excellent condition. Bracelet is a 78790A with solid endlinks, 9 links and will fit a wrist of up to a round 7 inches. Clasp code is OP coded, indicating it's from 2006 as well so no reason to believe it is not original to the watch. Shows only minor stretch, with only very minor desk dive marks present. Was serviced a few years ago by an independent watchmaker according to the owner, but no service paperwork is included. Currently keeping COSC time measured dial-up on a timegrapher, and all functions operating as they should, so we have no reason to doubt this. Comes as watch-only, so no box or papers.
