Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris Mariner Date 42mm Blue Dial Q9068180 Released in 2018, this generation of Polaris collection from Jaeger LeCoultre is part of a 50th Anniversary series in tribute to the original Polaris pieces from the 60's. This particular reference is known as the Mariner Date, and it is a masterful execution of a dive watch from one of horology's most storied brands. The stainless steel case measures in at 42mm across the case, with a thickness of 13.92mm, with a brilliant brushed finish on all areas other than the polished bevel lines and outer bezel. Within this case lies a striking lacquered blue dial with grained and sunburst finishing, with a gradient from deep blue to almost black across certain parts of the dial. It has a depth that really needs to be seen in person to be understood. Touches of orange on the seconds hand and internal rotating dive bezel add another dimension, and the date window is beautifully integrated with it's lacquered edges appearing to melt into the window. Spectacular. To top it off, it's water resistant to 300 metres so it'll take whatever you can throw at it. Powering it is a buttery smooth Calibre 899 automatic movement with its 70 hours of power reserve, hacking seconds, with a lovely level of finish visible through the sapphire case back. It's mounted to the beautifully crafted steel JLC bracelet with integrated half link extensions in the buckle, and a broad 21mm between the lugs ensuring balance remains. This particular piece was first sold in 2022 and presents in TZ 'Excellent' condition. There's a light surface scuff on the lower right lug, another on the upper left lug, and some minor scratches present on the upper right lug near the bezel, and some tiny flea bites across the bevel. The left side of the case shows very light marks under very close inspection. The polished surfaces show some small marks, and the case back shows some minor scratching. Please see images for full condition details. Bracelet has enough links to fit a 7.5in wrist without the built-in extensions in use, and shows desk diving marks throughout. No service history, far too new for that. Winds beautifully, functions operate as they should, and keeping time at around +7 secs per day at 300+ degrees of amplitude measured dial-up on a timegrapher. Remains under manufacturers warranty until 2030. Comes with the outer box, inner box, instruction booklet, and warranty card dated 2022. One of the great luxury dive watches, and superb value on the secondary market for a now discontinued reference.
