Description

Jaeger LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic 46 Q205C571 Jaeger LeCoultre just doesn’t make luxury sports watches like they used to, and that’s a real shame as what they used to make is watches like this; the Master Compressor Chronograph. We think it’s one of the best JLC’s of the modern era, and certainly in the top few sports pieces they’ve made. It is one of the watches that cemented the idea for us that the 2000's through mid-2010's was one of JLC's most creative periods. This particular version was released in 2015, and features a 46mm case in ceramic, with a 54.4mm lug-to-lug and just 13.3mm thick. This lack of height, combined with the lightness of the ceramic and colour of the case makes it feel more like a 44mm in reality. This is also helped by the large sloped rehaut, with the centre portion of the dial being a good few mm's smaller than the inner bezel, which again makes it feel smaller than it is. The dial itself is a lovely shade of light grey, with blue accents abound. It features running seconds, a 12 hour counter, and 30 minute counter on its subdials, and there's also a GMT function which is not apparent at first. But simply pop the crown out, spin it, and a small GMT hand will appear form behind the hour hand allowing for a discreet and very functional travel chronograph. That window below 12? Well, that's a day/night indicator for the reference time. Again, a very elegant solution by the masters of watchmaking. The strap is a work of art. It's features a textile upper and leather lower section, with only a very mild taper so feels quite substantial. It's heavily bolstered in the middle, and conforms to the wrist unbelievably well. In fact it is one of the comfiest straps we've experienced. Powering it is the in-house calibre 757column wheel chronograph, with GMT functionality, 65-hour power reserve, and free-sprung balance, and to top it off it's water resistant to 100m. This particular piece presents in TZ ‘Near Mint’ condition, with no real signs of wear present other than some very light scratches on the polished caseback. Please see images for full condition details. The strap is in good condition, with some minor wear present on the sides where it passes through the tang buckle and some minor cracking around the last few holes. Service history is unknown. It's keeping time at around +9 seconds a day at 280 degrees of amplitude face-up on a timegrapher, and all functions operating as they should. Includes outer box, inner box, instruction booklet, and warranty papers (expired). Don’t let this rare example in amazing condition pass you by.
