Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 36000 Diver 600m SBGH257 Proper tool watch, this. Released in 2017 as a limited run of 500 pieces, the SBGH257 is a true beast of a dive watch, combining all the things we love about Grand Seiko in a highly capable, and what feels like a truly indestructible, package. Featuring a 46.9mm x 16.9mm case made of what Grand Seiko refers to as 'High Intensity Titanium', it is effectively grade 5 titanium, so despite it's size it is very comfortable on the wrist as long as you have the wrist size to take it. It features a mix of hand-applied Zaratsu polishing and brushing, with a complex shape that hugs the wrist nicely. It has a monster 600m of water resistance, and Grand Seiko claim it can be used for saturation diving even without a HEV valve as it is so perfectly sealed that helium cannot enter. As we said, it's a proper tool watch. Surrounding it is a uni-directional 120-click bezel with a ceramic insert and one of the finest actions you'll find anywhere. The dial within is the star of the show in our opinion, with an amazing hobnail finish in a deep blue which is made of iron, and therefore is highly anti-magnetic. Atop this sits heavily lumed brushed hands, with large, luminous markers and a discreet date at 4 Powering it is the iconic 9S85 Hi-Beat movement, and it's mounted to a titanium bracelet with quick adjust clasp with a silicon strap included if you'd like to change the look up. This particular piece was first sold in 2017 and presents in TZ 'Very Good' condition. The polished sections of the case show scratches and swirls from regular use, but nothing deep. The ceramic insert shows some scratches and scuffs as well, as does the case back and inner bezel ring. Please see images for full condition details. All functions operating as they should, and keeping time around +10 seconds a day measured dial-up on a timegrapher.
