Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique Titanium Bracelet 45mm 5015 12B40 98B Don't be fooled into thinking that the Fifty Fathoms is some sort of dive watch pretender. The Fifty Fathoms is the original dive watch, with a history dating back to 1953 where it created the first dive watch for the Frogmen of the French Navy. Fast forward to 2017, and we have one of the most highly finished, robust and stunning dive watches on the market, the Fifty Fathoms in Titanium. While some folks like to compare these to Subs, they're a different watch in our opinion. This is a luxury diver, with proper dive watch credentials should you wish to use them, but occupies a space that sits in a different niche with it's high finishing levels and beautiful movement. The case is crafted in titanium, and measures in at 45mm, with a 51mm lug-to-lug and 15.6mm thick with a satin finish throughout. Yes, it’s large, but the Titanium brings the weight right down and the size gives it fantastic legibility, and room for the absolutely gorgeous lumed sapphire bezel. Combine that with the brilliant in-house 1315 movement with triple barrels and a 120 hour power reserve, and the striking and highly detailed sunray blue dial, and you’ve got a watch that deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the very best dive watches in the business. This reference is matched to a titanium bracelet, which is superbly constructed, and adds another dimension to this dive watch icon. It also comes with the fantastic Blancpain Nato-style strap, and the best-in-the-business textile strap. This particular watch was initially purchased in June 2020 and presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition. Has clearly been worn sparingly, and as such the case shows only the very lightest signs of careful use. No dings, dents or deep scratches present. Bezel is perfect. Please see images for full condition details. The bracelet is in the same condition as the case, with barely any hint that it's been used. It's a couple of links short we believe, and will fit roughly a 7.2in wrist as a guesstimate. The fabric strap is in amazing condition, and the nato looks almost unworn. Buckle on the fabric strap shows some minor desk dive marks. No service history, but a little young for that. Keeping COSC time at 300+ degrees of amplitude measured dial-up on a timegrapher. Comes with outer box, inner box, travel case, technical booklet, Blancpain register, diver log, warranty card (expired), titanium bracelet, and textile strap.
